This album sees Katy at a more pop-rock stance than she is known for post-2010. The album was just packed with potential hit singles, only a few of which ended up seeing the light of day (why did they wait until single #5 to release 'Waking Up In Vegas'?!). The entire album was either solely written or co-written by Perry herself.
Let's start with the singles, 'I Kissed a Girl', 'Hot 'N' Cold' and 'Waking Up In Vegas' - all fantastically catchy up-tempo tracks which became the hits they deserved to be. Furthermore, the limited Australian release of 'One of the Boys' was deserving and the perhaps retrospective mistake of releasing fan-favourite 'Thinking of You' was worth it just for the beautifully shot video.
As for the album tracks, the up-tempos are the real winners here, 'If You Can Afford Me', 'Self Inflicted' and 'Fingerprints' were all potential singles - the latter of which is lyrically one of my favourite pop songs of recent time. I would go as far as to say there is only one track on the album that I don't love and that is 'Mannequin', but even that is enjoyable enough to leave my rating for here at a brilliant 6/6. A good enough effort, I certainly enjoy it more than the lame Teenage Dream. All the singles are of high quality and the album tracks are decent enough.
Die Singles sind klasse, dass restliche Album bietet gut produzierten, eingängigen Mainstream-Pop-Rock. Die Stimme geht auch in Ordnung. Aufgerundete 5 Punkte!
the album has mint singles but for some reason it doesn't glue together as a whole. very little consistency, rubbish tracks crammed between two good ones. it results in making the album passable.
Die Kritiker bewerteten das Album zum großen Teil ziemlich mies, dabei ist es ein wirklich unterhaltsames Stück Fun-Pop. Aufgemotzter Bubblegum-Rock mit zwei grandiosen Singles ("I Kissed a Girl", "Hot N Col"), die ordentlich Staub aufwirbelten. Ich fand allerdings auch schon den Geheimtipp "Ur So Gay" richtig gut. Insgesamt ist die Hälfte der Songs gut bis stark, daneben gibt es etliche Nummern, die sehr ähnlich aufgezogen sind und arg in Richtig Avril Lavigne und P!nk schielen. Stimmlich kann Katy Perry zwar nicht mithalten, dafür hat sie einige starke Ohrwürmer zu bieten. Zudem finde ich das Album-Cover klasse!
überraschenderweise gutes Album, was Katy Perry da präsentiert. Obwohl sie nicht die beste Sängerin ist, sind die meisten Songs doch recht gelungen und bleiben auch gleich im Ohr hängen. Allerdings gibt es auch zwei Totalausfälle(Mannequin und I'm still breathing). In Summe ein anständiges Popalbum. 4*

Katy Perry only got popular off of a gimmick i.e. "I Kissed a Girl" - this and "Hot N Cold" may be catchy songs, but they do not good music make, plus they get really annoying when they get stuck in your head

L'opus contient des titres rock très accrocheurs comme "Waking Up In Vegas" et de très jolies ballades comme le single "Thinking Of You". L'album reprend également le fameux "Ur So Gay", que Katy avait déjà enregistré auparavant. Bref, "One Of The Boys" est un album plein de surprises et aux styles très variés. Entre le côté provocateur et le côté charmeur, on ne peut qu'en être satisfait.

Finde das Album total gelungen. Wenn man "Hot 'n' Cold" und "I Kissed A Girl" mag, wird man das Album lieben. Hammer Popsongs wie "One Of The Boys", "Ur So Gay", die beiden Singles, "Mannequin" sowie das ruhige "Thinking Of You" machen das Album zu einem Meisterwerk, welches von einer echt talentierten Frau vorgetragen wird.
Jaja... sehr gut! Und auch viel mehr Hits als auf den Vorgänger... "Hot N Cold" ist die beste Single, der Rest hat aber auch Noten von 3 - 6.... Das blöde an der K. Hudson ist nur, dass man einige Songs 5 Mal anhören muss... Sonst mag man sie nicht so... (5)
Ein wirklich tolles Debutalbum. Ist zwar so schon öfter da gewesen, aber mir gefällt Katys Stimme sehr gut. Die Songs sind flott und gehen ins Ohr, macht Spass zu hören.

Nicht viel Gutes dabei ausser die Max Martin Singles, I'm Still Breathing und Fingerprints. Ansonsten ein typisches, langweiliges Werk für die Teenie-Zielgruppe von heute mit ewig den selben Harmonien. 3*
Zusammengefasst betrachtet ein gutes, positiv stimmendes Kommerz-Popalbum. Die Frau hat einfach Spaß am singen und tut dies auch gut.
Und wie es scho ein Vorredner sagte. Da wurde bestimmt ein bißchen von überall abgekupfert u. in den Popmix eingeflossen. Zudem geb ich ned alle 6*, da die Songs teilweise sehr ähnlich klingen.
Aber ey, es ist ihr Debüt. Wer weiß, was die noch so rausbringen wird, in Zukunft?...

ausser i kissed a girl,hot and cold und ur so gay gefällt mir nix,und einen song namens mannequin hat auch britney im album.Wie bei beyonce und pink mit ave maria ,komisch.....
Das Album macht im Allgemeinen ziemlich Spass und lässt sich gut durchhören, doch irgendwie scheint es mir als wäre es irgendwie alles ein bisschen von da und dort zusammengeklaut worden, aber das stört nur so am Rande. Also zurück zum Thema : Gutes Album mit vielen tollen Songs!
