So und nicht anders muss Britney klingen! Meiner Meinung einer ihrer besten, wenn nicht gar DER beste. Schade, dass man so was wohl nicht mehr von ihr hören wird, denn dafür mochte ich sie: Anspruchsloser, auf Hochglanz polierter, und zu 110% kommerzieller Plastikpop.
Das war ein Hit? Hab ich völlig verdrängt. Aber zu Unrecht, denn das ist besser als mancher bekanntere Song von ihr. Vor allem die schnörkellose Produktion kann überzeugen.

die aktion war einfach grundsätzlich oberbillig; den song aufnehmen, den clip, noch so "meeega" aufwendig, drehen, aber nie als single auskoppeln. aber dann trotzdem: den clip taaaausendmal, tagein, tagaus, auf diesen beschissenen musikkanälen ausstrahlen... nun, e hört sich nach typisch britney an, kitsch, wie sie ihn vorzüglich verkörpert...
"Overprotected" and "Overprotected (The Darkchild Remix)" are the third singles from Pop singer Britney Spears released from the album Britney. It is the second single in the fourth quarter of 2001 internationally, and third single released during the first quarter of 2002 in the U.S.
The song is another product of the pop songwriting and producing team made up of Max Martin and Rami, though the "Darkchild Remix" version of the song was produced by Rodney Jerkins. The single was released in its original state internationally, but as the "Darkchild Remix" in the U.S. Thus, there were two different music videos released to promote the song. Britney declares in the song that she is "overprotected" and explains to the world that she cannot find out who she is, where she needs to go and what she needs to do if she is restricted from certain experiences.
In 2003, Spears was nominated for a Grammy in the category of Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for the song.
Despite being given a harder remix to tailor to the U.S. market, "Overprotected (The Darkchild Remix)" reached a peak of number eighty-six on the Billboard Hot 100. Though the track failed to chart on the Hot 100 Airplay, it still had managed to chart on the Hot 100 as it was released as 'airplay-only'. This is a somewhat notable feat, and would be repeated siliarly with "Outrageous" in 2004.
The story was the same at Top 40 radio, as the song failed to chart on either the Top 40 Tracks or Rhythmic Top 40, though it did make it into the lower reaches of the Mainstream Top 40.
At this point in Spears' career, "Overprotected" was probably only second to "Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know" in terms of least international success. Though it was hardly a flop, it missed the top ten in most countries.
"Overprotected" was received well in the U.K. debuting at five and moving up to four in it's second week. The single sold 124,000 copies.
It was the 2nd single to be released from Britney in Australia, with "Not a girl, not yet a woman" being the 3rd.

Hat ich den nicht auch schon bewertet *grübel*? Manchmal stimmt hier irgendwas nicht. Naja egal. Leider nur in UK als Single erschienen; typische Trash-Pop-Nummer à la Britney. Aufgerundete 6.
