▒ Drukke, vreemde plaat met traag zangwerk uit januari 2012 van de 32 jarige Nieuw Zeelandse zangeres "Phillipa 'Pip' Brown", alias "Ladyhawke" !!! Voorloper van haar 2e studioalbum "Anxiety" !!! Kan me niet helemaal bekoren ☺!!!
It's a pretty cool track on first listen. Hopefully it'll grow on me more, so I can like it as much as I loved the first album. Then again, I had to hear that about a hundred times before I really appreciated it.
Der L-Faktor kehrt in 2012 wieder zurück - Little Boots war schon am Start, La Roux wird folgen - und jetzt die erste Single von Pip Brown: der Sound stimmt, die Töne piepsen - doch ähnlich wie bei Victoria's erster Single finde ich die Komposition selbst zu konventionell und weniger euphorisch wie die Songs vom Debut ... sie darf sich hier gern noch steigern.
My first observation was that it seems a bit overproduced, such that it doesn't really seem to fit any coherent structure. I especially like the pre-chorus though, and the rest is nice due to quirky instrumental hooks.
It also may be just on the basis of one lyric in the chorus, but when I heard them next to each other the other week I could't help but think "Damn, that sounds like "Faces"", true story. 4.5
