Gute 2.

This urban/trap trend needs to stop. Since when mixing stupid beats and singing in a catastropical tune is acceptable?

The two things that KILL this song. The singer himself, and that atrocious beat. I cannot properly enjoy this whatsoever, not even in a so bad it's good way.

I don't hate this but I don't enjoy it much either. Indeed he has a rather obnoxious voice and I don't really care to hear a list of songs of dances that I have no interest in at all. Shameful derivation of "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" towards the end too. That said, it is very catchy and the various mondegreens ("silence the ho"and "ooh wash me wash me") amuse me so it's not totally a disaster. There are certainly worse things out there.

Not for me - if I was 13 maybe I would get into it, but I'm not. Thankfully, I think we won't have to deal with many more "songs" from Silento.

I apologise if I am unintentionally and unknowingly repeating something that has already been said.

Something I've learnt in recent years is that there is really no point in being overly critical of pop culture before and after my era. Yes, your parents were into daggy things, yes you get irrationally angry at the fact the Oxford English Dictionary start adding what you think aren't 'real' words. But then the generation below you probably think your taste is daggy, and there's almost certainly people in the generation above you who think that terms you use without even thinking about it, are a sign of the denigration of society.

To use a specific example, I love Pokémon (if you're older than me and already cringing, my work is done). Specifically, I love it for the phenomenon it was in the late '90s towards the early '00s and then it loses a bit of grip. Possibly because of me no longer being pre-adolescent, possibly due to me tiring of repetitive (and increasingly slow paced) gameplay, but certainly not due to objective quality. If you stack up the old games against the new ones, they are considerably outmatched in depths of graphics (well duh), gameplay, storyline and characters. I haven't made much of an effort to get into them, but I am highly convinced that if you grew up 10 years after me, your childhood was considerably more awesome than mine could ever hope to be.

There are people in the same situation as me who will completely unironically disagree with everything I just said.

Which brings me to the latest 'oh no, kids are having fun won't somebody please think of the adults' event in Silentó's "Watch Me (Whip / Nae Nae)". And yep, it's a dumb song about doing a dance. If not for "The Twist", "The Hustle", "The Loco-Motion", "The Safety Dance", "The Hokey Pokey", "Macarena", "Crank That (Soulja Boy)", "Teach Me How To Dougie", and recent phenomena like "Gangnam Style", "Hot Ni**a", "Harlem Shake" and the like, then gee, this could be upsetting to me. Note: Jam or not, pretty much every one of those songs and their associated dances are dumb, and they cover pretty much every generation alive today.

But I can't really bring myself to be mad at Silentó for riding this wave. For one, his goofy grin in the video is too endearing, and two, the whole song is so infectiously catchy that I can enjoy it on that level alone.

Incidentally, it reminds me of "7/11" in the stakes of it being 'Dear Vine: Good luck'. And heck, if Vines could be this long, this whole thing could pass as one really because there's actually no new phenomena introduced within it. Instead it seems like a compendium of dance crazes from the last 9 years.

In other words, this is more or less the unofficial sequel to "Evolution Of Dance", and I'm totally ok with that.

Verschrikkelijk irritant nummer. De tekst is een allegaartje aan woorden; er zit namelijk geen structuur in en bovendien is hij behoorlijk kinderachtig. De raps klinken bovendien ontzettend amateuristisch. Dat dit maar aan ons voorbij mag gaan...

Contender for one of the worst songs of the year easily! It had nothing interesting going for it in the first place, but then it had to repeat it self 32165413216554321 times just to rub it in and make it completely unbearable! I hope I never hear this again.

I'm probably the only one on this site but I love it! I love the song, the dance, and everything that goes with it! Finally pop culture fad that I like! 4.5*

I heard this on the radio a couple of weeks ago, and when the person says at the start of the song "you know what it is", I was thinking, "oh no, it sounds like commercial radio stations have taken a liking to Rae Sremmurd unfortunately", and then he says "Silento" and I'm wondering "who"?

So no, I did not know what it was, so you don't have the right to say that.

Actually, if we did know what it was, then what is the point of even saying that in the first place? If we already know what it is, then what is the point of saying that we already know what it is? Basically, what I'm saying here is that singers (rappers in particular) should stop saying that at the start of their songs. I'm only bringing this up for the first time here because I, in fact, did not know what it was.

Anyway, this was awful and I don't think we needed a song commemorating all of those fad dances we'd forgotten such a long time ago.

EDIT: I feel I was perhaps a bit too harsh originally, despite still not thinking this is good.

It's a little catchy and I can see why it would appeal to some, but it still isn't for me at this point in time.

And it turns out Silento is even younger than I thought (only 17 years old!). That might explain why his voice is so annoying.

But that also supports my argument in my initial review, in that how could we possibly know who he is? It's only your first song bro! Most of your target audience probably haven't even heard of you before this!

A painful experience to say the least. It doesn't relent from the childish gibberish at any point which makes it a consistently excruciating three minutes.

Fucking hell! If it weren't for a couple of lyrics, as well as the vocals just being shithouse instead of cheesy this sounds like the sort of thing you'd hear on Hi-5 or whatever toddlers of today watch where every sentence leads into a song. This is dreadful. And the end wishes it could be a Soulja Boy song; that would be a major improvement.
